A question from a reader:  “Why do people feel they need to suffer so much?  Some people seem to hold the belief that if they’re not suffering each day, they’re not doing something right.  Why?”

When I begin working on this issue from an energetic perspective, all kinds of interesting things come up to be corrected and healed.  A big one is the false belief that the more you suffer, the more spiritual you are.  There are often religious and collective consciousness beliefs to be cleared.

Another big one can be past life karma.  For example, in a past life you’ve caused someone else to suffer or witnessed someone else suffering and didn’t do anything to help and now you feel you must suffer in this lifetime to make up for that.  You hold the energy that you deserve to suffer.

A separate caveat to that is the belief that if I suffer — if I’m a victim — then I’m not hurting someone else.  I’m not a victimizer.  There is often a past life connection here too — this person wants so much to do no harm that he or she takes on the victim role instead.

When I do energy healings around this, I always work both sides of it — how does the client feel about suffering and not suffering, being a victim and not being a victim.  I check things like responsibility, blame, forgiveness issues, memories, karma, trauma . . .

I like what Stuart Wilde says in Life Wasn’t Meant to Be a Struggle (I’m paraphrasing) — there is a difference between effort and struggle.  Yes, life requires some effort — just like a tiger chasing and attacking its prey — but the natural order of things is not struggle.  The tiger doesn’t find the attack a struggle, something that drains her.  She expends the energy and receives the reward from it.

Sometimes we get a caught up in the struggle of it.  And, it can be tempting to hang out with other people who are struggling and talk about how bad things are.  (Ooh, that can be a major energetic sink-hole — one that’s tough to climb out of . . .)  Sometimes, out of compassion, we may join people in the sink-hole even if we don’t really feel that way ourselves.  Although that may feel noble at the time, in fact there’s most likely a guilt piece that could be healed — how do you feel about doing well when someone else is suffering?

The quote from Marianne Williamson that I posted the other day alluded to this as well — kind of from the opposite perspective.  It doesn’t help someone else if we hold back our light — in fact, by shining our light as brightly as we can, it gives other people permission to seek their own brightness.

Our angels absolutely want to help us with this issue.  They say that our truest nature is one of bliss and joy, not despair.  They surround us with love and comfort and try to draw us out of that place of suffering into a place of perspective where we can see our earthly circumstances for what they really are.

They’d love to help us step out of struggle and suffering and into motivated effort.  What do we need to do to move our lives forward?  They’ll help us figure that out if we’re willing to step out of the suffering.  It’s a big step for some people — that mud is pretty deep and it’s even seeped into the rubber boots you’re wearing, creating a vacuum that’s going to take some effort to break.

Remember, though, you’re not a victim of the mud or the rubber boots — honey, you stepped in there yourself.  Let go of the blame and the freak-out and just muster up the effort to step out — at least wiggle your foot, preparing for the step.  Keep wiggling until you can move your foot and step out onto the dry bank.  It’s not far.  Motivated effort gives you strength — victim struggling makes you weak.

Visualize stepping out.  Imagine what it would feel like to step out.  Think about what you would do if you weren’t suffering and stuck.  Start to bring those feelings and images close to you and move toward that future for yourself.

If someone near you is reinforcing your suffering, please stop listening to them and begin listening to the little voice inside that says, “Yes, you can step up and out of this mess!  Yes, you can!”

Yes, you can.  Clear horizons are out there and they can be for you.

When you have someone in your life who is one suffering the angels advise you to keep your light shining brightly.  The source of that light is God/Universal Source Energy/Love/Higher Self, so you don’t need to generate the energy to keep it burning.  But, it’s crucial to connect to the source through prayer and meditation — otherwise you can get drained and burned out.

Try to remain separate from that person’s drama and suffering mentality — and shower them and yourself with love.  Ask the angels to remove any cords and attachments with this person that causes a feeling of draining.  Of course, the connections of love never get severed, just those draining, enmeshed energy connections.

Remember the Truth that you are loved.  You’re never alone, even for a moment, in that muddy place — there’s always a helping hand stretched out to help give you balance and strength.

Blessings for a future that is just as you envision it to be!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we
are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened
about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are
all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory
of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And
as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission
to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others.”

—-from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson.

Hi, everyone!  Sending waves of love and light out to you all.  I did healing and angel sessions last night at the Reiki circle at The Sanctuary, and as usual after that, my vibration is very high and I’m sharing that with you.  Thanks to everyone who signed up for a session with me — you are all magnificent souls.

Today the angels want to talk about worthiness.  Almost all of us have issues of some sort around worthiness.  Often it’s issues of feeling worthy of love — receiving love from God, ourselves and from other people.  There are important archetypes that come into play here as well — mother, father, child, friend, boss, employee.  How do we feel about giving and  receiving love from this group of people?  How do we feel about loving ourselves?

When I’m doing a healing session and this comes up — the angels telling us to love ourselves more fully — I begin to check in with Yuen on lots of different layers.

How is your energy to the word “love” itself?  The concept of love, the concept of not-love.  Is there a selfishness piece when you think of receiving love or not receiving love?  Do you feel like if you receive love you take it away from someone else?  Were there times that you did not love with a pure heart?  Or loved too much and were hurt?  Or hurt someone else?  There would be forgiveness issues and memories to correct for.  Remember that I check your energy around these questions — and our energy often doesn’t match our conscious beliefs . . .

Feeling love from God and the angels can bring up additional issues for people.  Although most of us would consciously say that we love God and we know that God loves us, in reality, our energy doesn’t always support that.  The angels show me an image of someone standing there, face-to-face with God, looking God in the eyes.  How does that image make you feel?  Could you stand in God’s presence and give love purely and receive love purely?

Most of us would like to think we could, but probably couldn’t.  (In fact as I write this I can feel the intimidation that is out there . . .)

Here’s where guilt and worthiness comes into play.  Many of us hold some guilt about “sins” and our pasts that keep us from being able to look God in the eyes and receive love.  Can we accept the idea that maybe God loves us unconditionally even if we feel some guilt?  That God wants to embrace us even if we aren’t proud of ourselves for each thing we’ve done and said?

Can we forgive ourselves like God has forgiven us?  Can we heal these things within ourselves and open our hearts so that we can love and receive love without something clogging the works?

The angels want to help you with letting these feelings go.  Letting the past go.  They can gather up all that icky, sticky stuff and rise up to the light of heaven with it where it can be transmuted into clear, loving energy that falls gently back to earth like a scattering of flower petals.

The primary relationship we must attend to is ours with our Creator — use whatever word or image you like best:  God, Higher Source, Higher Self, Universal Source Energy.  Nurture your ability to snuggle in close with God and all the rest of your earthly relationships will begin to ease up.  Fluidity in communication and the back-and-forth flow of love, acceptance and forgiveness will begin to appear.  You will be so filled with God love that earth love will be sweeter.

Don’t be worried about expressing anything “negative” or “impolite” to God.  The angels assure you (and I can attest to this myself) that in bringing your complaints to God, you open up the healing pathways.  By telling God that you blame God for something and that you’re mad about it gives God a chance to love you and tell you what is so.  That leads to faster healing and a closer relationship.  You won’t shock God.  God knows it all already!

It’s a simple idea — this nurturing your relationship with God, but it’s not easy.  There are lots of layers there to work through and encounter.  Certainly there are more facets to this than a little blog post can cover, but the point is to invite you to begin or continue on this path — and to encourage you that only good will come of it, even it there are painful spots along the way.

Your angels will take you by the hand through the dark patches and lead you onward toward the light.

You are worthy of being loved — that is your true nature.  What you were created to be.  Blessings today!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Sending waves of love to all of you.  Hoping that you can feel love flowing in and out of your hearts today and everyday.

We really are surrounded at all times by our dear angels.  Really.  Even when we’re acting our worst — our most out of alignment.  They never turn their backs on us or judge us.  They only love us and want to help.

When we’re sitting there, head in hands, overwhelmed, depressed, freaking out, they’re there right behind us with their hands on our shoulders and their foreheads resting on the back of our heads.  They’re wise and gentle and loving.  They are what we as humans, in our most evolved possility, may near achieving.

I am so grateful for their constant companionship and for their brilliant guidance (even when I choose to ignore them — why do I do that??).

The good news is that I ignore them for shorter periods of time these days.  So, that must mean that some of their wisdom is beginning to rub off on me!  It continues to be a process of surrender.

My ego loves to be in charge.  It loves to bring me things to freak me out so that I fall back into those old patterns of worry, fear, anger, blame, yak, yak, yak.  You’d think I’d recognize it.  You’d think I’d laugh and say, “Not this time, ego — I’ve got you beat!  I choose to love and trust and not fall into those old ways.”  You’d think . . .

But, I do get there.  And, now instead of it taking several days of whining, blaming, ranting, raving, lamenting, feeling guilty — it only takes about an hour before I find my sanity again.  In fact, now I’m beginning to see the angels out of the corner of my eye/heart/mind in the midst of the freak out.  That’s progress.

I don’t turn my head and fall into their loving wisdom, though — not right away anyway. About an hour later I do.  I realize what a nasty little trick my ego played and that I let myself get tricked again.  Drat.

The angels just chuckle and welcome me back into their embrace, loving me sweetly.  When the dust of the freak out settles and I move into my meditative, receptive place, they’ll tell me what it was all about.  What part was mine — what I need to learn, accept, heal, forgive — and what wasn’t mine — what I need to disconnect from, release, forgive and heal.

It really is a lovely process (minus the freak-out, of course).  There will come a time when the ego will present a trick — like the witch from Hansel and Gretel — and it will look so tempting to bite into, but I won’t do it.  I won’t be tempted.  I’ll just resist and allow a wave of wisdom to pass over me and through me and I’ll know with clarity what I need to forgive, learn, heal, whatever.  I’ll act with wisdom and not add anything that is not love and truth.

I’ve had the experience of it working that way and it feels like a victory!  My vibration begins to soar!  I feel like I can handle anything!  I’m earning my wings.

The same is coming for you.  The more you commit to the path of uniting in spirit with God/Univeral Source Energy/Your Higher Self, the more you will find these unpleasant ego tricks to be easier and easier to recover from.

Not to be a bummer, but just to let you know, the ego is pretty clever.  It will bring you increasingly difficult (but, hopefully subtle) challenges.  It can be tempting to fall into righteous indignation about some of the stuff.  But, when the freak out dust settles and you realize what it was all about, you’ll see it for the trick it was.

Please remember, you are not your ego.  You are an expression of God.  You are a child of the Creator of all there is.  You are love.  You are wisdom.  You are Truth.

And, you are surrounded by protective, loving angels who are on hand to guide you in each step you take (and each word you speak).  It may be a mountain we climb, but we are well equipped for the journey.

Go inward, friends.  Find your connection.  Feel the love that is coming to you this beautiful Valentine’s day.

My friends!  I’m hoping that soon I’ll be able to express the fullness of this angel message for you!  They assure me it’s not a lack of ability on my part, but that they’re giving me information for you (all of us) in layers, like a gorgeous layer cake.

Here’s the latest layer for you on the yoga / shavasana thread.  My last post was a look at the nature of death in the world around us right now.  And, yes, indeed there is death.  Someone dear to me just lost her job yesterday — and believe me, she’s feeling grief about the loss.  There’s anger, fear, worry, guilt, grief — all kinds of “composty” emotions.

Oh, the richness of that compost!  The *beauty* of the organic, life-giving material that these emotions will bring.  Of course, right now, she’s just feeling the death of it.  But, what’s coming is brilliance and beauty.

These things *must* fall (tears, fists, the Dow Jones).  They must compost.  They *will* bring about new growth.  And, that lovely spring green color will accompany it.  You know what green I’m talking about?  The color of the first shoots of daffodils and tulips?  Yes, it’s *that* green — that luscious, water-filled green — is coming!  It really is.  Now, it’s only February and being a northern girl by birth, nothing green is breaking the earth yet in “February”.  But, the life forces of the plants are beginning to shift their energies toward growing instead of sleeping.  Yes!  It’s coming!

Now the angels want to talk about the contrast between death and eternal life.  (Although this has an overt religeous sound, hang in with me — the angels are bringing you deep wisdom here.)  The divine spark of spirit that we all carry within us remains alive and vibrant even when the outward appearances seem dead.  It’s the outer vs. the inner.

The angels want to urge you to find that quiet, small space within you that is alive and bursting with fire and wisdom.  It is that wellspring of spirit that drives all of the outer.  It’s a challenge to reach deep within you when outer things are in chaos, but the angels assure you that they will meet you there.  They are always near you and they reach out to you, but you must meet them where it is quiet and all-knowing within yourself.

When you can get connected with that spirit place within you, you can begin to feel the eternal nature of yourself.  That deep peace and love that comes from the heavenly realms straight into your heart and soul.  The infinite love and acceptance that lifts you right up and out of your outer self and warms your face in its sun beam.

Once you can experience this feeling and Truth, you can begin to find some perspective about the outer events in your life.  Divine creativity and wisdom begins to grow within you, optimism replaces the pessimism and new options begin to present themselves to you.  Contentedness washes over you like a warm ocean wave.  Happiness replaces fear.

Eternity replaces death.

You are loved, dear ones — and you are eternal.  Blessings surround you today, even if they appear to be underground.

A yoga message from the angels!

Today the angels showed me a picture of how our economy, our culture, our society are in a yoga inversion pose — literally on their heads.  Many of us can feel that too.  Lots of pressure on our shoulders and on our heads.  Many of us are completely absorbed by thoughts, worries, fears of the future.

Things as we’ve known them are turned upside down.  Our plans for the future . . . changed.  Our financial situation . . . changed.  Our career outlook . . . changed.  Our relationships . . . changed.  Where we used to feel a solid footing is now not there, or it’s pretty shaky and uncertain.

I love yoga.  I do yoga several times a week.  And, I love inversions.  Headstand, shoulder stand, handstand . . . all of them.   They’re exciting and exhilarating!  It feels like I’m a kid again, goofing around and just hanging there in the air.  I love the feeling!  It’s so cool.

What do my yoga teachers say about inversions?  The blood gets a chance to flow a different way, bringing fresh blood to the internal organs and removing toxins in the process.  You get a chance to see your life from a completely different perspective.

The angels encourage us to see our current situations in this light.  It’s a chance to challenge gravity in our lives.  To find a new way to balance.  A new way to experience the view.  It’s a time to detoxify — removing those unnecessary aspects of our lives and concentrating on bringing purity to the forefront.

The counter-posture to many of the yoga inversions is child’s pose — lovely surrender.  The angels guide us to find our child-self right now.  To look for the joy of simplicity.  To trust without knowing what the future brings.  To sit in the backseat instead of the driver’s seat.  To not worry about the future.  Trust that the universe will right these inversions and that you’re cared for in the process.  Surrender to your highest, wisest self — your connection with the Creator of all.

Often in a yoga class, the inversions are at the end of class, just before final relaxation (shavasana) pose.  The angels invite you to find yourself in relaxation mode.  Find your center, your peace, your meditation.  Give yourself a much-needed rest for a little while.  Relax your body.  Relax your mind.  Relax your spirit.  You deserve some quiet — so enjoy it!

Remember that you are loved!  Practice some yoga today — spiritual, mental or physical yoga.  It’s all good.

Namaste, friends . . .

Sending out waves of love and comfort from the perspective of the angels.  Oh, my friends, so many of you are in fear!  The feelings of fear have become so commonplace — so comfortable, actually — that you’ve begun to see them as normal.  As a part of you.

Sometimes out of our fear we create these heavy, stone walls around us — to protect us.  From what??  These are not the boundaries I wrote about the other day.  These are fortresses to keep out stuff.  What stuff??

Relationships?  Closeness?  Love?  Realizations of our connectedness with each other?  New thoughts and ideas?  Expanding consciousness?

Oh, friends.  I just had a conversation with someone who is so filled with the fear that she is separate from God — so separate from God that she has to work really hard to find her way back.  But in no way is she separate from the divine — the divine runs through her veins, through her lungs, through her hair on a breezy day.  The divine surrounds her in each moment of her life.

In her desperate striving to connect again with God, she has agreed to live by a very narrow list of “rules” that will take her back.  And, if she can help others adopt that set of rules for themselves, I think she feels it will accelerate her own journey.

With deep compassion and light-filled love my heart connects with hers in a gesture of connectedness.  Poor, dear one — you don’t need to feel like you’re in a dark forest with little hope of seeing the light of day again.  Just open your eyes!  Open your heart!  Your angels are standing right by your side, extending their hands to you to help bring you to a place of beauty and peace.

That’s your Truth, you know.  You are beauty and peace.  Please don’t be afraid.  Don’t be afraid that you’re lost.  Don’t be afraid that you’ll never find your way.  Just sit in silence for a moment and feel the love that is coming to you.  Feel how beautiful heaven thinks you are.  Realize that when you chip away at those things (thoughts, beliefs, fears, memories) that are getting in the way, you will radiate pure love within yourself and outside of yourself for the whole world to see.

And, that would be bringing the Christ who is within, outward onto the earth.

Bless the Christians!  Bless the Hindus!  Bless the Jews!  Bless the Buddhists!  Bless all the paths to the divine!  Bless all who wander and seek!  Bless those that are sitting this one out!

Bless us all!

The angels talk to me often about the need to forgive.  Forgive yourself, forgive others, forgive God.  I’ve also read Gary Renard’s two books: The Disappearce of the Universe and Your Immortal Reality, which are his teachings of A Course In Miracles, so I get lots of messages about forgiveness.  Radical forgiveness.

It (forgiveness) is the path to inner peace — and, outer peace too, actually.  It’s allowing things that are out of alignment with your vibration to be released.  It removes the energetic attachment and leaves behind peace of heart and mind.

Now, one *really* important aspect of forgiveness is that you can forgive someone and not choose to be in a relationship with them.  So, forgiveness isn’t about letting someone off the hook so they can hurt you again.  Oh, no!  The angels don’t instruct us to let ourselves be hurt time and time again.  They guide us to love ourselves enough to put up boundaries with people or situations that would harm us.

The forgiveness is an inner experience of release and sometimes that process goes *very* deep.  Usually, when we begin to forgive another, we find a deeper layer that needs to be forgiven within ourselves.  It’s one of those upward spirals — the first step, by extending inner forgiveness to another, leads us to finding a deeper love and acceptance of ourselves, which allows us to extend greater love outward.

And, that is the path of peace.  By forgiving daily — by the moment, sometimes — we begin to experience life as easier.  More joyful.  More colorful.  Safer.

But the angels *always* remind us to love ourselves the way heaven loves us.  Care for ourselves the way a mother cares for a baby.  Love ourselves enough to create boundaries — and sometimes that means we must release a relationship.  And, that’s okay.

Blessings today, friends!  Love from the angels.

I’m preparing for my angel workshop tonight here in Memphis — even though there’s really not anything I need to do.  I’ll just show up and let the angels guide the work and open the hearts and minds of the participants.

I’m sending my friends and clients love today.  I’m holding the intention with you that what you dream for yourself in 2009 comes to you beautifully.

Trust yourself.  Be good to yourself.  Try not to be afraid.  You *are* being looked over by your angels.  You *are* deeply loved.  No matter what the outer appearances are, remember that you are a loved child of God.

Blessings to you today and throughout 2009!
